TEAM & ROSTER FORMATION GUIDELINES FOR CARBONDALE SOCCER CLUB
DEVELOPMENTAL
TEAMS:
1.
Player eligibility is determined on the basis of completed registrations
received from interested participants each season, by the registration
deadline as established each season by the Club.
2.
When registration numbers and the availability of committed & qualified
coaches allow, more than one team will be formed, based on roster sizes
approximately as follows: U6
4-6 coed (3v3 format) U8
5-7 coed (4v4 format) U10
9-12 boys or girls (8v8 format) U12-U18 13-18 boys or girls (11v11 format)
3.
When more than one team in an age/gender bracket is formed, efforts
will be made to balance the distribution of players between the teams. Balance criteria include players' age, school
grade, experience, and ability levels (to the extent that coaches may
have prior familiarity with players), as well as general compatibilities
(again, if known) between players, families & coaching staff. Roster sizes will be equal to the extent possible
within age/gender brackets.
4.
When registration numbers fall short of the minimum for one team, recruiting
efforts will be made within the local community, especially to prior
year players who may have forgotten the registration deadlines. This procedure may also be used to increase
registration numbers to a multiple team threshold on a case by case
basis, at the discretion of the Club.
If insufficient numbers for a single team remain by the league
team registration deadline, the registered players will be informed
of any alternate program options which may exist (other clubs, other
towns) and their fees shall be refunded.
COMPETITIVE
TEAMS: Procedures are the same as above, except as follows:
1.
If competitive teams' registrations exceed the target roster size, a
Club sanctioned tryout session shall be held to determine player eligibility
for the competitive team. Such
tryouts shall be supervised at a minimum by the team coach & manager,
as well as the Club Director of Coaching.
2.
Players not selected for the competitive team will become eligible for
developmental teams at that age/gender bracket and assigned to teams
as described above.

ALL
TEAMS:
1.
Players will be assigned to age/gender divisions as scheduled by WSSL
& CSYSA, with annual age cut-off dates typically occurring on August
1 each year.
2.
Players may "play up" one age bracket above their normal division IF
they demonstrate proper physical and skill capabilities to succeed and
avoid injury, at the discretion of the coaching staff and the Club. Such determinations will be made strictly on a case by case basis.
3.
Players rostered for teams participating in CSYSA & WSSL league
play MAY NOT "play down" below their age division.
4.
Playing is a privilege. All
players, coaches and parents will sign the Club Code of Conduct, which
governs the Club's enforcement of behavior and sportsmanship for all
parties. Any player may be suspended from a roster for
violation of the Club Code of Conduct, at the discretion of the coach
and/or manager, with the approval of the Club.
Length of suspension will be based on the circumstances and reasons
for the suspension.
5.
Players and coaches shall also fully honor and abide by all cautions,
ejections and suspensions handed down by game referees, WSSL, CSYSA
and tournament officials. Protests
of such sanctions may only be made as provided by each sanctioning organization's
rules, and with the approval of the Club.
These
guidelines adopted and approved by CSC Board on September 9, 2004. |
